Bulsha:- The government of Somaliland, which previously banned the Somali language branch of the BBC, has now reversed its previous decision and released new news, after discussions between the two parties.
In a statement issued by the minister of information of Somaliland, Suleyman Yusuf Ali (Koore), it was said that an official solution has been reached in the dispute between Somaliland and the BBC.
Minister Koore revealed that the issue was resolved through meetings held by both parties at the headquarters of the Ministry of Information of Somaliland, and at the same time it was part of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the administration, after which an official agreement was reached.
Somaliland has also announced that it has lifted the ban it imposed on the BBC last year in 2022, and from today onwards it can officially operate in the areas of that administration.
"Thus, I would like to inform you that today, on 27/04/2023, we have lifted the ban on the operation of the BBC's Somali language branch in the Republic of Somaliland," the statement said.
Earlier, Somaliland accused the BBC of violating its sovereignty and degrading its honor and dignity, which led to banning it completely.
She also told Somaliland that the BBC has lost the culture and history of existence between the people of Somaliland and the BBC, as she said.
On the other hand, there is no statement from the senior management of the BBC regarding the new news of Somaliland and the re-authorization of their radio station.
However, the BBC, which is an international media, when talking about the issues of Somaliland, calls the self-declared Republic of independence, which seems to have disturbed the government of Somaliland, which has been seeking recognition since 1991.
