Bulsha:- Microsoft has ended the free upgrade path from Windows 7 and 8 to Windows 10 and 11, although the upgrade from 10 to 11 remains free. This means that users with old systems now have to pay if they want to upgrade.
Microsoft also provides requirements for Windows 10 users. “To upgrade to Windows 11, devices must meet Windows 11 minimum system requirements. Some Windows 10 features are not available in Windows 11. System requirements for using some Windows 11 features and apps will exceed the minimum system requirements Windows 11," according to instructions on Microsoft's website.
Previously, Microsoft offered a full year — until July 31, 2016, one year after Windows 10 launched — for Windows 7 and Windows 8 users to take advantage of existing Windows licenses as a free pass to Windows 10.
Then Microsoft allowed those who use assistive technology, such as screen readers, an additional loophole. If you use a screen reader, for example, you have until the end of 2017. Then that loophole closes, too.
Looking back, the Windows 7/8 transition never really closed. Users can still upgrade their old PCs to Windows 10, if they wish. However, this loophole has now been officially closed.
If the transition from Windows 7 to Windows 8 to Windows 10 was relatively smooth, the current situation is no longer possible. Microsoft is now implementing hardware limitations on Windows 11, so the number of people who successfully navigate that upgrade path may be close to zero, as quoted by Pc World.
Windows 7 could be called a superior operating system 14 years ago. However, times are changing, it's time to look for a more modern PC so that it can match the desired specifications of Windows 11 or its successors.
