Bulsha:- The National Security Adviser to the President of the United States, Joe Biden, met on Sunday night with the Crown Prince of Saudi Arabia, Mohammed bin Salman, during a time of tension between the White House and the Kingdom.
The Saudi government news agency SPA said that the meeting between Jake Sullivan and Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman took place in Jeddah.
The SPA report only stated that the two men reviewed the "strategic relationship" while other US officials were part of the meeting.
Later, Sullivan attended a meeting between the crown prince, India's national security adviser Ajit Doval and UAE national security adviser Sheikh Tahnoon bin Zayed Al Nahyan.
A statement from the White House confirmed the meeting, saying that the purpose was to promote "the shared vision of the Middle East becoming a prosperous and secure region connected to India and the rest of the world."
Saudi government media did not broadcast any videos or photos related to the meetings.
Biden entered the election campaign saying that he would abandon Saudi Arabia after the Saudi consulate in Istanbul was killed in 2018 by a journalist who wrote for the Washington Post, Jamal Khashoggi.
American intelligence agencies believe that the assassination was ordered by the crown prince, although Riyadh has denied it.
However, Biden visited Saudi Arabia in July 2022, as the United States wanted the kingdom to help reduce energy prices after the Russian invasion of Ukraine.
At the same time, Biden vowed that there would be "consequences" for the reduction in oil production by the OPEC+ countries, a group that includes Russia.
