Bulsha:- The President of Jubbaland State, Ahmed Mohamed Islam (Ahmed Madobe), who is currently in Mogadishu, today had a special meeting with the Kenyan ambassador to Somalia, Maj. Gen. Thomas Chepkuto.
Ahmed Madobe Ambassador Maj. Gen. Thomas Chepkuto three issues about the situation in Somalia, especially the re-opening of the borders between the two countries, economic issues and also the war against al-Shabaab.
One of the important issues discussed by the two officials is how to increase the operations starting in the Juba regions where the Kenyan forces are operating as part of the ATMIS.
A statement issued by the Jubbaland presidency has given more details about a meeting between President Ahmed Madobe and the ambassador of the Kenyan government, which took place in Mogadishu.
"The President of Jubaland and the Kenyan Ambassador to Somalia discussed the opening of the border between Somalia and Kenya, which is of great importance to the people of both countries in terms of migration, exchange of goods and development of the economy of the two countries," said a news release from the presidency of Jubbaland.
The statement added, "During the meeting, the officials also discussed the security issues and the operations that Jubaland is conducting in many parts of Jubaland's regions to eliminate terrorist groups."
Kenya has a good relationship with the regional government of Jubbaland which it supports in particular, and it is said that it has contributed greatly to its construction by supporting Ahmed Madobe.
However, this meeting is coming, now the plan is that the second phase of the Al-Shabaab war will start in the south of Somalia, in which the neighboring countries will participate, including the Kenyan government.
