Bulsha:- Israel declared a state of war after claiming Hamas launched 5,000 rockets and attacks with ground troops.
In response to the attack, which apparently caught the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) by surprise, Israel declared a state of war.
"A number of terrorists have infiltrated Israeli territory from the Gaza Strip," the military said in a statement as quoted by The Guardian, Saturday (7/10/2023).
The military also added that residents in areas around the Gaza Strip have been asked to stay in their homes.
"The Israel Defense Forces will defend Israeli civilians and the terrorist organization Hamas will pay a heavy price for its actions," continued the military.
Senior Hamas military commander Mohammad Deif said 5,000 rockets had been launched. He called on Palestinians everywhere to fight.
"This is the day of the greatest battle to end the last occupation on Earth," said senior Hamas military commander Mohammad Deif.
According to information circulating, Palestinian gunmen infiltrated southern Israel and rocket attacks were launched from the Gaza Strip during the attack.
Sirens were heard throughout Israel, including in Jerusalem.
Israel's Defense Minister, Yoav Gallant, has announced that the militant group Hamas has started a war against Israel and promised that "Israel will win," the Associated Press reported.
After a security cabinet meeting at Israel's military headquarters in Tel Aviv, Gallant warned that Hamas was "making a big mistake" by launching rockets at southern and central Israel.
Hamas gunmen have crossed the border fence in several places and infiltrated Israeli communities in one of the most serious escalations in recent years between Israel and the militant group that controls Gaza.
"The State of Israel will win this war," Gallant said.
"Hamas has made a big mistake this morning," said Yoav Gallant, reported by Reuters.
